Data is grossly limited in communities in dire need of support. In the absence of reliable information (or a budget to conduct data collection extensively), what to energy planners rely on to back their ideas? Spatial mapping to create infrastructure visuals is a remarkable method. If projects need to be planned for energy poor societies that do not directly have access to commercial projects, it will be interesting to learn about QGIS (or ArcGIS) based planning, apart from relying on good old Google Earth (read about this Ghana research).
